CELTSS is delighted to offer a one-day writing retreat hosted on campus. Join colleagues in a day (or an hour) of writing in community in the CIE, which offers multiple spaces to stretch out with your laptop. Please note space is limited and there will be no writing coaches on staff. This is simply a chance to use the Center for Inclusive Excellence space in O'Connor Hall and get some writing done! Coffee, tea, and some inspirational snacks will be provided. - Dec 1211:30 AMCELTSS Works in Progress ColloquiumCampus Calendar | O'Connor Hall Room 220

Come share a scholarly or creative work in progress with your fellow faculty and librarians during the Works in Progress Colloquium. Sharing will take place in small groups [on Thursday, December 12th (during the writing retreat day) from 11:30-1:30pm] to ensure time for feedback and discussion. Please register to let us know how you’d like to use your 5-10 minutes to share something you have been working on, the primary focus around which you would like to be grouped (subject area, specific goal, or other), and what kind of feedback would be most useful to you at this stage. We will use the information you provide to organize participants into groups. We hope this event will lay the groundwork for more sustained sharing of works-in-progress among small groups of faculty and librarians in the spring. - Feb 124:30 PM"The Road to Publication and Book Highlights"Campus Calendar | McCarthy Campus Center Alumni Room

Cord Jefferson’s directorial debut is a satirical
Molotov cocktail hurled at the commodification of
Black stories. This explosive adaptation of Percival
Everett’s novel Erasure (2001) tells the story of
the writer-academic, Thelonious “Monk” Ellison,
as he deconstructs Hollywood and publishing’s
grotesque appetite for palatable, stereotypical
narratives about contemporary Black life
